LoRa is widely adopted in the field of Internet of things (IoT) communications. Despite the advantages of providing long-distance communication and flexible data rates, LoRa’s maximum transmission rate remains relatively low, limiting its application in practical systems. To address this issue, we exploit index modulation (IM) and reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS) techniques in LoRa system, and design transmission scheme and low complexity detector to improve the data rate of LoRa systems. Simulation results demonstrate that, in Rayleigh fading channels, the scheme in this paper achieves significant improvements in both the bit error performance and throughput.
