An Introduction to Cell Signalling Pathways and Their Dysregulation in Cancer

Worldwide, people are most worried about malignant tumours because of the high death and recurrence rates associated with these types of cancer. In cancer, dysregulation of signalling pathways is crucial. Nevertheless, a cohesive molecular basis for pan-cancer has not been fully elucidated, and oncogenic signalling pathways continue to impact both its onset and progression. Human cancer cells control critical functions through various signalling pathways and molecular mechanisms. These include vascularization, invasion, metabolism rewiring, an enabling microenvironment, immune modulation, and altered stress response favouring overall survival. In this brief overview, we discussed some of the most recent research on signal transduction pathways that have shown promise as potential therapeutic targets in cancer cells. These pathways include the MAP-kinase system, the PI3K/AKT/mTOR regulatory network signalling, regarding Wnt/β-catenin, and the signalling pathway. Several microRNAs (miRNAs) play key roles in tumour-related signalling pathways. It gives a quick rundown of the molecular medications used to combat cancer that aim to block these pathways. Research investigating the molecular biology of cancerous tumours and developing new therapeutic approaches and options that prioritize efficacy while minimizing adverse effects may benefit greatly from this review’s theoretical grounding.
