Expectations towards individual professionals and professional teams of ECEC settings have risen in the past decades, which are complex and therefore partially inconsistent. Hence, professionals and professional teams are challenged to gain consistent orientations in this multitude of expectations they are confronted with. In 2006, about 15 years ago, the OECD-report ‘Starting Strong’ (2006) compared the OECD countries and showed that Germany shares with other Nordic and Central European countries a broad concept of pedagogy, which combines care, upbringing and learning, without hierarchy. This chapter, which is based on the habilitation project “Co-construction of professionalism in the context of ECEC”, focuses on current constructions of professionalism by professional teams. The habilitation project explores how professional teams in early childhood settings establish a professional horizon against which they structure individual perceptions.

摘要
