It is now legible; the human habitat and its environs are feeling the climatic thump in Himalayan region. The winters are turning out to be drier and the summers wetter though not exceptionally. Factoring out the Polar Regions, the Himalayas embraces the largest cryosphere and bestow millions with its resources. One of the consumers of the resources are the residents of Joshimath also known as Jyotirmath. A scared place located at the height of 6150 feet within Chamoli district in Uttarakhand. The gateway to the scintillating mountain range holds 3898 households with the population of 16,709 according to the 2011 census, which continues to burgeon undeniably. Uttarakhand is situated in the Western Himalayas which holds 15% of total ice mass of the entire Himalayas; it has been taking up the heat, literally. Glacial Lake Outburst Flood (GLOF), cloud burst, flash flood, and the concomitant delude has been tearing down the place lately. We can put onus of the catastrophe on the climate change, but honestly, we know who is guilty of it. To that effect, we tried to limit our focus to carbon emissions which is the mainstay of the research. The emissions are the prime reason for receding glaciers in the Himalayan region. While the authorities have pledged to stick to accords and decadal targets to increase carbon sink and cut down emissions, it can be effectively thwarted at personal and household level as well. The key is change in lifestyle, knowledge, and technical know-how.
