Xuesen Qian, founder of system engineering, clearly pointed out for the first time that “product reliability is designed, produced and managed” when summarizing the experience of reliability work at a reliability work conference of national defense science and technology industry. Through a large number of long-term engineering practice and exploration, people have gradually realized that product reliability comes from design, forming in production, showing in use. The failure rate varies dynamically with the change of life stages. The reliability of products with the same design specifications that are manufactured on different production lines is different, and always lower than expectation.
