Due to the ever-increasing demand for electric vehicles (EVs) and the accompanying rise in the cost of charging the vehicles, it is necessary to find ways to minimize costs through an optimal charging process. The method of selecting the operational mode of an electric vehicle based on a given time schedule and calculated battery status has not received significant attention. In order to combat the problem of continuously increasing costs associated with charging electric vehicles, this study suggests an optimization technique for charging EVs based on their battery status. In addition to the above, their daily operating schedule is taken into consideration as well. In this paper, the proposed optimization problem is formulated as a Mixed Integer Linear Programming (MILP) problem in order to minimize the cost of charging electric vehicles by supplying electricity to the grid. To solve this problem a widely utilized ILP solver, IBM ILOG CPLEX Studio, is used. The simulation results present that smart charge scheduling of the EVs can considerably contribute in minimizing the overall cost associated with charging.

摘要
