Development Model and Prediction of Karst Fracture-Cave Reservoir in Block D, Pre-caspian Basin

The Carboniferous system in Block D is an open platform facies deposit, controlled by strike-slip faults, and the karst fracture-cave reservoir are developed. Due to it’s development model is unclear and the reservoir heterogeneity is strong, the exploration effect is poor. In this paper, the spatial distribution of strike-slip faults is characterized by 3D seismic data, and the development model of karst fracture-cave reservoir is established. Based on core, well logging, and seismic data, the identification characteristics of karst fracture-cave reservoir are summarized. Combined with the reservoir classification, the favorable area of karst fracture-cave reservoir is finely delineated by comprehensive application of fine fracture-cave carving and fracture prediction techniques. On the basis of summarizing the development model of karst fracture-cave reservoir, the method of identifying karst fracture-cave reservoir with fine characterization technology has greatly improved the reliability of reservoir prediction, and 1 exploration well drilled in Block D have obtained high oil flow. The successful application of this method can provide a new idea for the future exploration in other Pre-Caspian Basin with the similar sedimentary tectonic background.
