Significant advancement has been made over the past twenty years at global, regional, and national level on the use of science and technology in policy advocacy, decision making, and implementation of the global agenda as well as national plans on disaster risk reduction. There are formal structures of global and regional science advice, and over the years regional science and technology advisory groups have become prominent in making science advice and having science technology plan for global agenda. At national level, some countries have adopted a formal structure on science advice directly to the head of state and / or head of the national disaster management agency. The key challenge still remains on how to bring science into local level decision making in a more formalized way. This is more relevant in current days as well as in future in the perspective of complex risk landscape as well as emerging of different types of technologies. Science and technology in future need to be more localized, inclusive, as well as the youth and young generation should be involved in making new entrepreneurship and innovation with science and technology to solve critical local problems.
