This chapter looks at the origins of the October 7, 2023, War, the context to the Israeli–Palestinian conflict, Hamas–Israel wars, and the impact of this war on regional and global politics as well as the standing and credibility of Israel in international legal fora, among other areas. The various political players are not making the necessary concessions while the humanitarian crisis and killings in Gaza are on the rise. This war will end like all others but one thing remains clear: the conflict will continue and the region will remain unstable so long as Israel continues its occupation of the West Bank and the Gaza Strip and the two-state solution remains unrealized.
