Quick Response Code Indonesian Standard: Making Payment Systems Easy for Traveling in Indonesia
摘要
The convenience of traveling extends beyond enjoying the scenery, attractions, services, comfort, and safety to include the ease of payment transactions. Various payment methods have been in use in Indonesia, but since 2019, Bank Indonesia (BI) introduced the Quick Response Code Indonesian Standard (QRIS), a streamlined and efficient noncash payment system. QRIS is designed to expedite transactions, benefiting the tourism sector significantly. This system is particularly advantageous for small-scale tourism businesses, as it facilitates seamless transactions for international tourists visiting Indonesia. Noncash payments enhance security for both sellers and buyers by eliminating the need to carry physical cash. This book chapter delves into the payment systems available to tourists in Indonesia, with a focus on the QRIS application. It covers the growth of tourism in Indonesia, various payment methods, and the user-friendliness of QRIS. Additionally, it addresses the challenges and provides insights from the perspectives of both tourism service providers and tourists regarding the benefits of QRIS.
