Wayang wong is a classical Balinese art representing a magical religious symbol. The community uses the wayang wong symbol as a form of “metaphor” expressing the majesty of God. This study aims to describe the function and meaning of wayang wong as a sacred art. This study uses a qualitative method with a descriptive interpretation. Meanwhile, data collection techniques used observation, structured interviews, and document data collection (libraries). The results of this study reveal that wayang wong is a symbol of Pralingga, which is purified and has been filled with religious magical functions. Wayang wong is a symbol of God’s majesty in the form of Shiva Nataraja (Satyam, Siwam, Sundaram), which has the meaning of upholding truth, dharma, and balance in life. Whereas in a more profane context, the art of wayang wong functions as entertainment and spectacle to fill the expression of human needs in expressing feelings in art.
