Egek is a traditional conservation concept of the Moi tribe, Malaumkarta Raya, Sorong Regency, Southwest Papua Province. This concept creates harmony in the lives of humans, nature, and the creator, including the involvement of ancestral memory in efforts to manage natural resources in forest and sea areas. The manifestation of this concept is proven to support a resilient ecosystem and ecology within the customary spatial boundaries of the Moi tribe. Their local knowledge is still alive and practiced today and, on their own initiative, is being developed in terms of sustainable tourism. However, tourism development based on conservation values requires planning and support from various parties. This chapter discusses the implementation of the Egek Festival I which was recently initiated in 2023 by the Moi Kelim tribe. Ethnographic data are presented as a basis for the study which was obtained through observation and in-depth interviews with community leaders in the Moi Kelim and supported by literature searches. The discussion focused on the long-term efforts of the indigenous people of the Moi tribe to develop the Egek Festival, which is integrated with education tourism, so that it can ideally become a destination that has conservation values with educational and economic goals.
