AI Adoption Challenges in Private Firms: Insights from Vendors and Corporate Users
摘要
The spread of artificial intelligence (AI) across industries signifies a shift in how businesses seek to leverage digital technologies for competitive advantege. Despite AI's growing presence, many companies remain uncertain about its business value, often restricting its use to isolated pilot initiatives. This chapter explores the challenges associated with AI adoption in private firms, drawing insights from both AI vendors and corporate users. By reviewing prior literature on technology and AI adoption, and analysing qualitative interviews with stakeholders from various industries, we identify key tensions shaping AI implementation. The findings reveal five critical themes: navigating AI hype, bridging domain expertise gaps, managing AI project teams, evaluating AI performance, and addressing resistance to change. By juxtaposing vendor and corporate perspectives, this study highlights points of alignment and divergence, offering practical insights for organisations aiming to integrate AI effectively. This chapter contributes to the technology adoption literature by providing a nuanced understanding of the socio-technical challenges that influence AI assimilation in business settings.
