As the COVID-19 epidemic expanded, so did the usage of social media for both beneficial and harmful purposes. A comprehensive evaluation was undertaken to assess the breadth and depth of study on the three types of social media impact and their respective mechanisms. Using the review's subject as the search phrase throughout Google Scholar (including abstracts) returned 32 publications, of which 30 were evaluated across the three categories. More than half of the publications we looked at focused on the harmful effects of social media. Among the several unfavourable factors mentioned, false information was by far the most common. There were common themes among the articles in all three types of categories. Suggestions were made to lessen the impact of any unfavourable influences. Policymakers and anyone responsible for social media public health efforts may benefit from this study.
