Performance Analysis of Digital Control Oscillator Using Ant Colony Optimization
摘要
Since 1980, all-digital phase-locked loops (ADPLLs), have significantly improved communications and control systems. Because it was designed using integrated circuit (IC) techniques, ADPLL has grown especially important. With its continuous improvement, ADPLL is becoming more and more important in digital communication networks. It provides a concise synopsis of the core ADPLL idea, which is helpful in network communication and control technologies and its working in brief. Digital Control Oscillator (DCO) is one among the blocks used in ADPLL and it consumes more than half the power consumed by the ADPLL. In the literature, there are various kinds of DCO and depending upon the application requirement it is decided which DCO is used in the application. With the development in the research, different techniques are used to reduce the power of DCO. Various nature-inspired optimization algorithms for parameter optimization are included in this document. The configuration of DCO used for the optimization is suggested and using the Ant Colony Optimization (ACO) algorithm, the simulated results show that the DCO power consumption is reduced by 17% with the increase in the 20% of the coarse tuning bits.
