The United Nations was created with the purpose of bringing nations together to address global challenges and conflicts and we must ensure that the UN is “fit for purposeFit for Purpose” so that it can effectively address those we face today. China is playing an increasingly important role in multilateral processes, having chaired COP15 on biodiversity and launched programmes like the Global Development Initiative, with enhanced international and South-South Cooperation in achieving the SDGs.
