Vibro compaction, a ground improvement method employed in clean sands, is effective in enhancing the load-bearing capacity, mitigating liquefaction potential, and decreasing settlements of loose to medium-dense cohesionless soils. This paper presents a successful case study of an industrial facility in Punjab State, where vibro compaction was implemented as ground improvement technique. Extensive soil investigation using boreholes and Static Cone Penetration Tests (ECPTs) is performed to characterize the subsoil conditions. The post-ECPT results confirmed a substantial increase in soil density and shear strength, validating the efficacy of the vibro compaction process. In addition, the improved soil conditions facilitated the design and implementation of an optimal pile foundation solution, which proved to be both cost-effective and environmentally friendly. This case study highlights the importance of selecting appropriate ground improvement techniques tailored to site-specific conditions, demonstrating that vibro compaction is a highly effective method in industrial construction projects, particularly in regions having high seismic risks.

摘要
