The Advancement of Climate Change Impact Assessment Methodology Project at National Institute for Environmental Studies
摘要
Various impacts of climate change are becoming apparent in Japan. It is important to predict and adapt to the impacts of climate change on various scales and in various fields. The National Institute for Environmental Studies’ fifth five-year plan (2021–2025) conducts the Climate Change Adaptation Research Program “the Advancement of Climate Change Impact Assessment Methodology Project (PJ2).” PJ2 targets four fields worldwide, three in the Asia-Pacific region, six in Japan, and one in the Abukuma River Basin in Fukushima Prefecture. It analyzes adaptation measures by predicting the effects of climate change under common climate and socioeconomic scenarios. The main results of the predictions are published on the Climate Change Adaptation Information Platform (A-PLAT) and the Asia-Pacific Climate Change Adaptation Information Platform (AP-PLAT). This chapter introduces the structure and activities of PJ2 and discusses future prospects.
