Nanofillers in Pharmaceutical Industry: Recent Trends
摘要
The fascinating role that nanotechnology is playing in the advancement of polymer science and its applications in a variety of fields, especially medicine, is examined in this chapter. With potential for enhancing materials at the nanoscale and applications ranging from drug delivery to medical devices, nanotechnology has emerged as a major field of study. The chapter describes how the use of nanoparticles in polymer matrices to create polymer nanocomposites results in improved performance in medical applications as well as increased strength and antibacterial activity. The function of various nanofillers in enhancing polymer properties such as metal nanoparticles, carbon nanotubes, and nanoclays is covered. Because of their large surface area and interactions with the polymer matrix, nanofillers in polymer composites can offer advantages such as improved mechanical, electrical, and thermal properties. Their uses in medical imaging, antimicrobial therapies, and drug delivery systems are covered in this chapter. Medical devices like stents and catheters that contain nanocomposites make for more accurate, long-lasting, and efficient instruments. Overall, the chapter shows how polymer science is being revolutionized by nanotechnology, especially in the pharmaceutical and medical sectors, opening up new avenues for creative problem solving that will improve healthcare.
