The study is aimed to monitor the personal exposure of traffic policemen and workers of industry to particulate matter in the industrial area of Surat City, India. The objective was to estimate the personal exposure concentration to PM5 and PM2.5. The study conducted experiments to estimate, specifically PM2.5 and PM5, during the working hours of the selected group. The results demonstrate that traffic policemen standing on road junctions (103.87 ± 20.71 µg/m3) and workers of the textile industry (345.31 ± 113.48 µg/m3) were exposed to significantly higher mean PM2.5 levels. It was observed that workers working in a closed textile industry are exposed to more particulate matter than the traffic policemen standing on open road junctions with good air circulation. The major source of particulate pollution to traffic police was vehicular emissions and road dust resuspension.
