In Japan, the right of all children to learn in an inclusive setting is recognized; however, the number of children with severe visual impairments learning in separate or non-inclusive settings is much higher compared to Western countries. This chapter highlights current education in Japan and explores factors that complicate the inclusion of children. Furthermore, recommendations will be provided to bring about the necessary changes.
