Due to the high sensitivity with AMS for measurement of the long-lived radioisotopes, the long-lived radioisotopes can play unique roles in the field of nuclear science and technology (He et al. in Nuclear Physics Review 21:210–213, 2004;Jiang in Trends in Nuclear Physics 9:38–42, 1992;). The measurement methods of the half-lives of long-live radionuclides such as 79Se and 32Si, the nuclear reaction cross-sections such as (n, 2n) and (n, γ), the searching for superheavy nuclides in nature are described. The status for these applications is summarized and discussed.
