Impact of pH Value and Utilization Rate Variation on Grinding Efficiency of Polycarboxylate-Based Grinding Aids
摘要
In this study, the effect of pH variation of polycarboxylate-based (PCE) grinding aids (GAs) on clinker grinding efficiency, CO2 emission, and environmental impact was investigated. For this purpose, the pH values of PCEs with constant chain lengths and molecular weights were varied as 4, 7, and 9. These PCE-based grinding aids (GAs) were applied at ratios of 0.05% and 0.1% of the combined weight of clinker and gypsum. The grinding process was conducted to achieve the target Blaine value of 3700 ± 100 cm2/g. In total, six different cements were produced in addition to a control cement without PCE-based GAs. Grinding efficiency, CO2 emission, and environmental impact were analyzed based on the grinding energy consumed during production. The study found that changes in utilization rate and pH value did not significantly impact the grinding performance of different types of PCE-based GAs. It was observed that PCE-based GAs improved grinding efficiency by 8–10% compared to the control cement without GAs.
