Security Guarantees as Balancing Ukraine with Russia: Reflections on Geopolitical Theories
摘要
The discussions about “security guarantees” for Ukraine need to take into consideration a large picture of the balance of power to introduce mechanisms to deter further Russian aggressions. Theories of geopolitics and international relations represented by Halford Mackinder, Karl Haushofer, John Mearsheimer, and Henry Kissinger are of importance to visualize such a large picture of balancing. Balance for a ceasefire would not contradict legitimacy for a peace agreement. Flexible manners of introducing multilayered “security guarantees” are required in the large picture of the balance of power.
