This paper takes the experimental course for basis of control engineering as the background, takes the linear inverted pendulum system as the research object, and applies the new teaching mode and teaching method for various classical, advanced and intelligent control methods. By introducing specific examples to stimulate students’ interest in learning, accurately reviewing relevant knowledge, cyclically advancing, detailed derivation, adhering to the principle of integration of theory, virtuality and reality, and establishing the expansion of practical links to complete the five-phase progressive iterative teaching method. The course adopts the control system of an inverted pendulum as a typical case of embodied intelligence, which is used to study and test the relevant algorithms and technologies of embodied intelligence.
