In this paper, an in-depth study comparing the characteristics of 4G and 5G technologies, analyzing both their similarities and differences conducted. Furthermore, the study investigate and compare commonly used simulators for deploying 4G and 5G networks. The goal of this comprehensive comparison is to aid the academic community in selecting the most suitable simulator for their specific projects. The work introduce Simu5G as an OMNeT++-based model library, which serves as a powerful simulation tool specifically designed for 5G networks. Building upon the success of the popular SimuLTE 4G network simulator, Simu5G incorporates 5G New Radio access, enabling end-to-end simulation of 5G New Radio deployments, and covering all protocol layers. Researchers and practitioners interested in evaluating the performance of 5G networks and services will find Simu5G to be a valuable resource for future use.
