In 2000, the average capacity of newly erected onshore wind turbines globally was approximately 0.75–1 MW, however by 2020, it had increased to 2.9 MW. In 2000, the mean capacity of newly installed offshore wind turbines was 1 MW, and by 2020, it surpassed 6 MW.
