Capturing the Intercultural
摘要
This chapter considers the challenge of capturing the intercultural for analytical purposes. In particular, the data collection process, designed to better understand how study abroad experiences might contribute to the development of intercultural capacities, is laid out. A review of research in this field demonstrates how qualitative approaches can play an important role in deepening our understanding of the relationship between study abroad and intercultural development. The methodological issues involved in capturing meaningful data in such settings are explored, along with an explanation of the specifics of the research context presented in this book. This chapter serves to introduce the research site/s, methods, and participants as well as outline some of the limitations and challenges involved in undertaking the research.
