This chapter investigates the essential function of resilience in disaster risk reduction and climate adaptation within the built environments of the Asia–Pacific region. The escalating impacts of climate change are increasing the frequency and severity of extreme events, posing significant risks to ecological systems and infrastructure stability. Establishing resilient infrastructure is critical in mitigating vulnerabilities, allowing systems to adapt, endure shocks, and recover effectively. It is paramount to adopt a socio-technical perspective, which integrates scientific knowledge with local expertise to strengthen climate resilience. A series of case studies included highlight adaptive strategies to address specific regional challenges such as urban heat stress, water security, and infrastructure resilience against seismic and extreme weather events. The authors advocate for inclusive, governance-led approaches and emphasize innovative practices, including green infrastructure, climate-smart agriculture, and smart urban planning, to align resilience objectives with sustainable development goals. This work offers a comprehensive framework for bolstering climate resilience across urban and rural settings, providing valuable insights for policymakers, practitioners, and communities.
