Caste and Its Economic Implications

State intervention in social and economic reforms is critical to a democratic polity, according to Ambedkar, and the foundations of democracy will be weak without it. According to Ambedkar, social and economic institutions, such as the caste and land tenure system in India, were not favourable for the acceleration of economic growth with social justice. The necessity to eliminate social and economic disparities as a precondition for long-term democracy and quick economic growth with justice was highlighted by him.
