A turntablist generates sounds by switching between sounds from two turntables, skipping to where the cue is registered, scratching, and spinning the turntable backwards. Our goal is to visualize such turntablist operations. The conventional approach to real-time visualization of a turntablist’s performance is to display the turntablist’s operations on a mockup of a DJ mixer. In contrast, we have made it possible to display the time series of strong and weak beats of a piece, as well as scratches, in real time. Our turntablist performance visualizer was used at the 2024 All Japan Breaking Championships and recorded by NHK, Japan’s public broadcaster. The recorded video can be viewed on NHK’s website.

摘要
