The escalating global challenge of solid waste management demands innovative and sustainable solutions to mitigate environmental impacts and ensure the well-being of future generations. This research paper explores the concept of engineered landfills as a resilient method for the efficient and sustainable disposal of solid waste. Engineered landfills represent a departure from conventional landfill practices by integrating advanced technologies, environmental monitoring systems, and engineered barriers to enhance waste containment and reduce adverse environmental effects. This study reviews the key components of engineered landfills, emphasizing the importance of liner systems, leachate collection and treatment, gas management, land reclamation, and final cover systems. By adopting advanced engineering techniques, these landfills aim to minimize the potential for groundwater contamination, control greenhouse gas emissions, and promote long-term stability. This research underscores the potential of engineered landfills as a resilient and sustainable method for solid waste management. On the whole, this paper focuses on the site investigations which must be done before landfill construction and also how the calculations involved in the designing be calculated.
