Renewable energy is experiencing rapid development, and its proportion in the power system continues to increase. However, the output of wind and solar power is greatly influenced by natural conditions, resulting in unstable output and negative peak-load-regulation characteristics. As the leading province in renewable energy, Qinghai is facing severe challenges from the soaring proportion of renewable energy. To solve the problem, this paper takes advantage of renewable energy capacity forecasting and long-term load forecasting, then calculate the needed capacity of peak load regulation in the future according to the results. Through this method, this paper works out the required capacity of peak load regulation of Qinghai Grid during 2024 to 2030.
