Dezhou, situated by the old course of the Yellow River and by the canal, is an ancient city shaped by river civilization. In ancient times, rivers like the Yellow River, Gejin River, Majia River, Husu River, Goupan River, and Tuhai River, traversed Dezhou from east to west, while the Grand Canal of Beijing-Hangzhou ran through it from south to north. In his “Reading Historical Geography Notes”, Qing historian Gu Zuyu once said: “(Dezhou) controls the shoulders of the three Qi, serving as the throat of the Hehu region.” The torrential rivers here, carrying immeasurable burdens, weave countless tales of joy and sorrow. Dezhou was named after the Yellow River and gained its fame from the Canal. When we place the Canal in the context of Dezhou’s entire development history, we can appreciate the value and significance it brings to Dezhou.

摘要
