In recent years, power transformer accidents caused by bushing failures have occurred frequently, seriously affecting the safe and stable operation of the power system. The most typical faults in bushings are moisture intrusion and partial discharge (PD). This paper studies the effects of moisture intrusion and PD on the dielectric loss tangent (tanδ) and capacitance of the bushing under two different testing methods: stepped high voltage and frequency domain dielectric spectroscopy (FDS). For the A and C phase bushings of the same manufacturer and model on the same transformer, the changing characteristics of bushing tan δ and capacitance after moisture intrusion and overvoltage tests were studied. The results show that under stepped high voltage, tanδ and capacitance have good sensitivity to moisture intrusion and PD faults, and the response forms are significantly different. In the FDS experiment, PD has a small impact on tanδ and capacitance, and the difference is not obvious. Moisture intrusion Significant impact on tanδ and capacitance.
