History and Examination of Laryngeal and Hypopharyngeal Disorders

The disorders of the larynx range from simple laryngitis to carcinoma larynx, caused by strain or injury to the vocal cords through excessive talking, throat clearing, coughing, smoking, screaming, singing or speaking too loudly or too softly. The usual presenting symptoms are change of voice, dysphonia, dysphagia, etc. The disorders of hypopharynx range from simple reflux disorder to hypopharyngeal cancer. The diseases of this region presented mainly with dysphagia or odynophagia.
