A proof-of-concept center is a new carrier that relies on institutions of higher learning, scientific research institutions, medical and health institutions, and enterprises with basic research capabilities to gather transformation factors such as results, talents, capital, and market, in order to build a proof-of-concept ecosystem, and accelerate the exploration and release of their valuable basic research results. Most proof-of-concept centers, based in research universities, provide a platform for validation, development, and technical support for new concepts. They research results, or products, through the cooperation of enterprises, universities, research institutions, and other organizations, and promote knowledge flow, technical cooperation, and industrial collaborative development. As a result they can successfully realize commercialization across the “valley of death” of technology transfer. This paper systematically discusses the feasibility and implementation path of the proof-of-concept center based on Khon Kaen University. Furthermore, it studies its business model and provides feasible suggestions and strategies.
