Rice is an important food source in the world, and the number of varieties of rice increases day by day. Rice seed mixing occurs in any stage of rice planting, production and circulation. Therefore, the identification and classification of rice is the key factor in the rice industry. However, earlier the identification or classification is done manually with the naked eye but this classification is not suitable due to the tiredness and experience of the people. This review discusses some of the image processing technologies which are accurate and give some prominent results in classification of rice. At the initial state, most of the technologies are used for classification of rice using MATLAB. Now the deep learning models are widely used in image processing and analysis in agricultural domain. Deep learning models utilizing Convolution Neural Network (CNN) are providing promising result in this field. The application area of CNN covers a major role of image analysis of rice in agricultural domain.
