摘要
Investor sentiment refers to the irrational beliefs held by investors, which can result in increased market volatility and the occurrence of market anomalies. This review intends to comprehensively synthesis scholarly works in the field of “investor sentiment” using a “bibliometric analysis” methodology. In order to achieve this objective, the study examines a comprehensive set of 1394 papers that were published in the Scopus database from 1994 to 2024. The evaluation reveals prominent themes, influential authors, prominent documents, trending topics, and top contributing nations. This study indicates that research in the field of investor sentiment is significantly advancing and United States and China are the leading countries in terms of number of studies conducted by their respective scholars and overall contribution. The analysis also indicates that previous studies in the domain have primarily concentrated on topics such as behavioural biases, stock returns, sentiment analysis, and volatility. However, recent scholarly work has identified emerging themes such as economic policy uncertainty, geopolitical risk, the impact of Covid-19, and bitcoin as safe haven.
