In our country, 0.42 Million km2 of total landmass are susceptible and risk-prone to landslides; hilly and mountainous areas are the hotspot locations of landslide occurrence. Among the different hilly terrains of India, Western Himalaya is highly vulnerable to landslide occurrence; more than 60 percent of landslides in India occur in the Western Himalayan states, followed by Eastern Himalaya and Western Ghat mountain chains. The present study is focused on the Umri landslide of Haryana, India; is located (30º 43′14″ N, 77º 1′29″ E) along the Baidyal-Panchkula Highway in Morni Hills. In 2013, the first time the landslide occurred; afterward, successive enlargement of the landslide area took place. The main objective of the present study is to conduct a geotechnical analysis of the collected soil samples; different parameters, i.e., soil Sieve analysis, grain size distribution, moisture content, bulk density, and dry density, have been measured.
