Using Annealing to Improve the Mechanical Properties of 3D-Printed PLA Parts: An Experimental Investigation
摘要
This study looks into how post-processing—more especially, annealing affects polylactic acid parts made with additive manufacturing that are used in engineering applications. The samples are printed using the Hydra 300 system, varying in two criteria: layer height and internal density. A comparative analysis is conducted to evaluate the mechanical properties of annealed versus non-annealed specimens. According to the findings, annealing improves the mechanical qualities of PLA products that are utilized in engineering settings. For specimens with 60% internal density, improvements in strength compared to non-annealed specimens are 6.015%, 11.748%, and − 1.834% for subsequent layer height, while specimens with 90% internal density exhibit strength improvements of 6.761%, 7.184%, and 5.427% for the same layer heights. These findings underscore the beneficial effects of annealing for engineering applications, highlighting the potential for optimizing PLA components through post-processing techniques.
