Legal Education in Australia

This chapter demonstrates the fundamentals of the legal education in Australia. Section 1 provides an overview. Section 2 introduces and examines the development and features of Australian law schools. Section 3 introduces the main degrees, certificates, diplomas, and other courses offered by the Australian law schools. Section 4 examines the curriculum in the delivery of the degrees. Sections 5, 6, 7, and 8 discuss other main aspects of law students’ activities, such as clinical legal education, Work Integrated Learning (WIL), extracurricular activities, as well as the clerkships and internships which enhance the career development for future lawyers.
