For a society to be created and maintained, multiple individuals must think similarly. We call this set of ideas a value system, and social identity reflects the value systems that form and sustain a society. Naturally, for these value systems to be shared among people, there must be trust between people. In other words, for members of a society to share a social identity, they must at least have similar judgments about right and wrong, likes and dislikes, and perceptions of beauty.
