Low-Cost Ceramic Membrane: Strategies for Controlling Pore Structure
摘要
Low-cost ceramic membrane development is primarily based on the use of raw materials and their underlying impurities which are critical to maintaining a porous network during the sintering process. The addition of pore generator agents, binder contents, and additives, therefore assumes a significant role in controlling the pore size distribution of the membranes. This chapter is intended to provide an insight into the influence of the initial composition, the shaping method, and the sintering conditions in the evolution of the required porous network, emphasizing the role of different types of pore generators and their characteristics in controlling an optimum limit of pore size distribution and total porosity to meet the requirements for permeability.
