Power Line Communication (PLC) refers to the practice of transmitting broadband data over pre-existing electrical infrastructure. The configuration of the power lines significantly influences the available bandwidth on the respective line. The article presents a comprehensive analysis of a two-stage hybrid Single-Ended Loop (SELT) test method that is utilized for the estimation of open-port loop topology in power lines. The initial topology is established through the utilization of Correlation Time Domain Reflectometry (CTDR) conducted at multiple locations. The utilization of optimization-based Frequency Domain Reflectometry (FDR) presents a more precise approach for determining the topology of power line. The mentioned process provides the benefit of utilizing the preferred DSL modem for measuring, and the estimation of topology does not require any prior knowledge from the user. This approach has been verified for implementation across a diverse range of line topologies, each of which possesses taps on the bridge that are one of a kind. The assessment of the forecasted topology’s performance is conducted through the application of two-port network theory. Additionally, an analysis is conducted to assess the impact of bridge taps on the line’s performance.

摘要
