A three-dimensional array (3D array) consists of processors (PEs) connected to each other in three dimensions. Two models for restructuring 3D arrays with faults by single-track shifting toward spares are described. One has spares on two opposite surfaces on an array and another has spares on the six surfaces. A restructuring algorithm for each model is given, which can be performed by hardware with switches around each PE. By computer simulation, the survival rates and the reliabilities of arrays which indicate the effectiveness of restructuring are shown.

摘要

A three-dimensional array (3D array) consists of processors (PEs) connected to each other in three dimensions. Two models for restructuring 3D arrays with faults by single-track shifting toward spares are described. One has spares on two opposite surfaces on an array and another has spares on the six surfaces. A restructuring algorithm for each model is given, which can be performed by hardware with switches around each PE. By computer simulation, the survival rates and the reliabilities of arrays which indicate the effectiveness of restructuring are shown.
