Statistical Analysis of A-weighted Sound Pressure Level for Courtship Song of Robust Cicada in Tokyo 2023
摘要
Cicada noise is notably loud during the summer in Japan. Previous studies on cicada noise failed to accurately measure the A-weighted sound pressure level due to outdoor measurements and unclear analysis section conditions. This study aims to accurately measure cicada noise and clarify the A-weighted sound pressure level and its variability of each courtship song. We propose analyzing the fundamental statistics of the sound levels for each courtship song and comparing them to environmental noise quality standards. Cicada noise was then corrected to a reference distance ( \({r}_{2}\) ) using free field sound attenuation. The noise of the cicadas was evaluated using the equivalent continuous A-weighted sound pressure level. Our findings indicate that it is possible to meet environmental quality standards for commercial, industry, and many residential areas if the distance from the cicadas is more than 20 m. However, meeting these standards is challenging due to the pervasive presence of cicada noise everywhere.
