The Correlation Between Fractal Dimension and Subjective Assessment of Scene Landscape in Game Ghost of Tsushima – from Multi-Ethnic Analysis to Single-Ethnic Analysis
摘要
Regarding the values hidden in the quantification of landscape, and among the quantitative metrics, fractal dimension is a crucial factor for quantifying the complexity of not only the landscape in reality but also the virtual landscape. Additionally, significant efforts from both industry and academia have been dedicated to the development and construction of virtual reality and metaverse. The game “Ghost of Tsushima” has obtained worldwide acclaim for its stunning game landscape scenes, as evidenced by the data from major game review sites. Given these considerations, using game “Ghost of Tsushima” as a medium to research the quantification of virtual landscape and the construction of digital landscape is highly significant. This paper analyses the correlation between fractal dimension and subjective assessment of scene landscape in game “Ghost of Tsushima”, regarding both multi-ethnic and single-ethnic perspectives, building on foundational studies of quantifying the real landscape and fractal analysis in the game and virtual reality industry. As a result, based on the findings of the meaningful correlations between game scene landscape and subjective assessment from both aspects of age groups and ethnicities, design recommendations are provided for game designers to build game landscape tailored to specific age groups or ethnicities.
