Climate change presents urgent global challenges that demand immediate action to mitigate its impacts. Urban landscape design has emerged as a promising approach to addressing climate change and its consequences. This chapter focuses on the relationship between urban landscape planning and green infrastructure design to promote climate resilience and adaptation. Urban Green Infrastructure (UGI) planning is a strategic approach to developing multifunctional networks of blue and green areas that can deliver various environmental, social, and economic advantages while improving cities’ climate resilience. Community participation in urban planning, fostering social cohesion, and creating inclusive spaces are emphasized as key pillars that can withstand climate change impacts. Practical initiatives, such as community gardens and neighborhood networks, are explored as effective means of enhancing community resilience. It is necessary to argue how green infrastructure planning can be applied to integrate planning strategies into community-adaptive planning. This is to cope with urban climate change and promote local resilience. To address climate change effectively, it is essential to understand the variety of types of green infrastructure, their implications, and ecological design. Adopting the ‘traditional’ grey infrastructure or technologically-based solutions is preferable. The planning process includes a number of structured adaptive solutions derived from ecological planning and climate change adaptation in order to facilitate multiple planning responses at the same time. This will enhance planning flexibility in practice. The challenges and prospects of urban landscape design in the context of climate change adaptation. In order to fully realize the potential of urban landscape design in addressing climate change, it emphasizes the importance of interdisciplinary collaborations, policy support, and financial investment. An emphasis is placed on nature-based solutions and community involvement when designing resilient and sustainable cities. It is a valuable contribution for scholars, urban designers, professionals, and policymakers interested in climate change adaptation and urban planners. As a final point, we discuss adaptation strategies in urban landscape design.
