Philosophy is a necessity of the times and the theoretical expression of the spirit of the times. The function of philosophy is not only to reflect and represent a certain era but also, more importantly, to promote the continuous emancipation of the mind and to guide the constant transformation and development of the era. The role of philosophy is active rather than passive. Only from this perspective can we understand the profound meaning of Marx’s statement that “any true philosophy is the essence of the spirit of its time”.
